Michael Leibman

MICHAEL LEIBMAN has more than 30 years experience consulting with leaders, board members, and senior staff of non-profit organizations, corporations, and public agencies. He founded Leibman Associates, Inc. (LAI) in 1993 to specialize in helping mission-driven organizations strengthen their capacity and deliver meaningful and measurable results.

Mr. Leibman helps organizational leaders navigate multiple organizational agendas and frame issues that facilitate decisions and actions. He brings a strategic and substantive perspective to developing recommendations. His collaborative style fosters client ownership and commitment to achieving the intended outcomes. He assists leaders:

  • Sharpen and gain consensus for their organization’s mission,
  • Develop, clarify and implement appropriate strategies,
  • Design and deploy the processes, methods and tools that achieve the desired results, and
  • Develop the leaders and teams that bring about those results.

His clients include national and local nonprofits, Fortune 500 corporations and governmental agencies. Among the organizations with whom Mr. Leibman has worked are: American Institute of Architects, Center for Applied Linguistics, Experience Works, GED Testing Service, GEICO, National Board of Professional Teaching Standards, The Schools of the National Cathedral, The Salvation Army, and Senior Service America, Inc.

Mr. Leibman holds advanced degrees from the University of Chicago and has written and spoken on the topics of strategy implementation, change management, organizational alignment, succession management, leadership development, and process re-engineering. His articles have appeared in The Journal of Business Strategy, The Journal of Human Resource Planning, HRMagazine, Inside SHRM, and Ethics. He is a former president of the HR Leadership Forum and has served on the educational committee of the Human Resource Planning Society.

Cassandra Nix Behler

CASSANDRA NIX BEHLER has more than 20 years experience in information technology (IT), specializing in leveraging technology solutions to address business needs. She works with executives, managers and technologists in corporations, nonprofits and government agencies to translate organizational goals and business requirements into operational plans and tools. Ms. Behler has designed, built and used analytical tools to develop metrics and data for executive decision-making.

A strategic problem solver and data analyst, Ms. Behler knows how to convey complex technical issues to non-technical audiences. She focuses on information strategy, business intelligence and data discovery, business analysis, project management, and systems design and implementation.

Working with LAI since 2002, Ms. Behler has served as the lead technical consultant. Her projects have included:

  • Mining data and preparing analyses in support of organizational decision-making and targeted marketing;
  • Integrating in-house system data with external data sources for information discovery and reporting;
  • Advising executives on ways to leverage technology to support the organization’s strategic plan;
  • Designing online performance projection and forecasting tools;
  • Designing and deploying systems to support evidence-based decision-making;
  • Specifying business and functional requirements and creating process flows, business rules, user interfaces and system specifications in collaboration with end-users; and
  • Reverse-engineering and documenting a complex Oracle database using SQL and analytical tools.

Prior to joining LAI, Ms. Behler worked for Lucent Technologies as the Global Manager of the Educational Services Group. She directed a worldwide staff of trainers and instructional designers to develop and deliver skills-based product training. She was an Account Manager and Project Manager at Kenan Systems Corporation, where she developed business intelligence and decision support systems for Senior Executives of the U.S. Postal Service. Ms. Behler also was a consultant at Oracle Corporation, where she designed relational databases.

Ms. Behler received her M.B.A. with a concentration in Decision Sciences and Operations Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where she was a Dupont Fellow. She has a M.S.E. in Computer Science from George Washington University and received her B.S. in Bioengineering from Johns Hopkins University where she was a Hodson Scholar and National Achievement Scholar.

Jane Shore Feldman

JANE SHORE FELDMAN is a certified coach with over twenty years’ coaching and consulting experience with leaders of Fortune 500 corporations, nongovernmental organizations, governmental agencies and national nonprofits. She specializes in working with leaders who want to maximize their impact and effectiveness, increase their scope of responsibility, and achieve greater career satisfaction. Through helping leaders leverage their core strengths, they enhance personal and team success.

Ms. Feldman has designed and implemented innovative approaches to developing business leaders. Her clients have included the World Bank, National Institutes of Health, NASA/Goddard, Central Intelligence Agency, Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, the Census Bureau, Department of Education, and Fannie Mae.

In addition to her association with Leibman Associates, Inc., Ms. Feldman is the founder and principal of Rosewood, LLC, (http://rosewood-llc.com) an executive coaching and consulting company dedicated to the development of leadership excellence. Prior to founding Rosewood, she directed leadership development programs and pioneered a new action learning process at Fannie Mae. These executive leadership programs maximized corporate-wide business value through real-time business projects. In addition, she designed innovative strategies for building managers’ coaching skills and crafted new approaches to enhancing recruitment and retention of executives.

An experienced public speaker and facilitator, Ms. Feldman has presented at national and local conferences. She co-authored Organizational Career Development: Benchmarks for Building a World-Class Workforce (Jossey-Bass), as well as published journal articles and a textbook chapter. She has served on the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Career Development Executive Committee.

Ms. Feldman is a certified professional coach and has an MA in Counseling from the University of Maryland. She has served on the Board of Directors of the HR Leadership Forum and as Adjunct Faculty with the Office of Executive Programs at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy. She is certified in Benchmarks and FIRO-B and is also qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and other assessments.

David W. Grant

DAVID W. GRANT has more than 25 years experience in strategic planning, market research, product development, and editorial and regulatory analysis. He conducts market research, prepares indepth analyses and develops product ideas and strategies to support clients’ sustained growth. Mr. Grant has editorial expertise and has developed a number of online and print publications, particularly for the healthcare industry.

His clients include major corporations such as Forbes and Deloitte and nonprofits such as AARP, The National Cathedral School and Senior Service America.

Prior to joining LAI, Mr. Grant was the Editorial Director at FDAnews, where he managed 14 publications, increased the quality and quantity of stories in the daily electronic subscription publication, and boosted staff productivity. Mr. Grant also served as the Publisher of reference services at DecisionHealth, a division of United Communications Group. At DecisionHealth, he developed new products and migrated printed information to electronic platforms. He was responsible for the strategic planning, revenue, profit margin, management and staffing of his group, which included more than 20 print and electronic references, newsletters, E-zines, five annual conferences and numerous audio-conferences and handbooks.

In addition, Mr. Grant worked at Thompson Publishing Group where he built a new publishing division. He identified and contracted with attorneys preeminent in their fields to develop and market information services for regulatory affairs professionals in the environmental, food, medical device, non-profit, and pharmaceutical sectors. He also revised the Group’s logo and brand to reflect its new focus on “insight with understanding”.

Mr. Grant has extensive experience with non-profit organizations, including as Director of the Newsletter Division at The Taft Group. At the Taft Group, he developed and marketed fund-raising references, management and fund-raising newsletters and handbooks for arts, educational, environmental, healthcare, and social-service non-profit organizations.

Mr. Grant graduated from The George Washington University and has authored more than a 1,300 articles in national and international publications. He has received significant awards for his published works, including five “Best Looseleaf Publication” awards from the Specialized Information Publishers Association.

Steve Stulck

Steve Stulck, Ed. D. has more than 30 years experience working with leaders who are deeply committed to generating personal and organizational breakthroughs. He has designed and implemented change initiatives as an executive at such major corporations as Rohm & Hass and Polaroid, and as a consultant to such organizations as Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, the Union of Concerned Scientists, Boston Scientific, and Partners Health Care. His breadth of experience allows him to actively engage with executives and managers over a wide range of business challenges with a focus on creating strategies that achieve results. In conjunction with his LAI association, Dr. Stulck is founder and president of Northern Light Consulting (www.northernlightconsulting.com)

Dr. Stulck helps leaders craft their plan for change and supports them as they engage in the actions that create breakthrough performance. He offers perceptive feedback, a clear structure for self-reflection, and the opportunity to create experiments that test each leader’s own theories of effective leadership. He is recognized for facilitating complex conversations within work teams that lead to coordinated action.

Dr. Stulck provides particular focus in his work with leaders to:

  • Develop a compelling vision of the future that inspires and mobilizes action,
  • Generate performance levels consistent with ambitious assignments and responsibilities,
  • Develop executives and their work groups into high-performing units capable of working with speed and coherence,
  • Implement strategies that call for widespread mobilization of people across the organization,
  • Create common frameworks for action through high-impact training programs, and
  • Redesign business processes to increase speed, simplicity and customer satisfaction.

Dr. Stulck completed his doctorate at Harvard University with a focus on organizational behavior and adult learning. He also holds an MA from the Ohio State University and a BA from the University of California. He speaks Spanish fluently and has extensive experience working in cross-cultural settings in Asia, Africa and South America. Dr. Stulck has also served on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations.

Catherine Choate

CATHERINE CHOATE provides project and administrative support. Since 2005, Ms. Choate assures strong client support and efficient firm operations.

Prior to joining LAI, Ms. Choate worked with both the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and the Biotechnology Industry Organization, managing their conference bookstores.

She also served as the Director of Marketing Administration at Reliastar (now ING), where she was responsible for supporting their sales staff and client base. During her tenure with Reliastar, she directed the product training program and had significant involvement in all aspects of their marketing services.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from George Mason University.
